Dundy County was named after Elmer S. Dundy, a prominent judge who once served on the U.S. Circuit Court and was an influential figure in Nebraskan politics.
The county was established in February 27, 1873 and officially organized in 1884. Dundy County is home to several unincorporated communities: Max, Sanborn, Lamont, Parks, Haigler, and Ough. The county is served by Dundy County Stratton Schools.
